DryHome Roofing & Siding’s 3rd Annual Loudoun Lyme 5K/1M run and Informational Fair was held at Loudoun Valley High School on May 19 in Purcellville. More than 630 runners and walkers-including some four-legged ones-participated in the event to raise money and awareness about the tick-borne disease. Many were there to show support for relatives and friends suffering from this hard-to-diagnose illness.
The 5K/1M run included an informational fair with more than 20 vendors including doctors, veterinarians, pest companies, the Loudoun Health Department and local politicians including Delegates Barbara Comstock and Randall Minchew, and Supervisors Janet Clarke, Geary Higgins and Ken Reid.
Additionally there was a kid’s Fun Zone with games and prizes. There was also a silent auction, raffles and Lyme merchandise.
The event raised almost $40,000 to benefit the National Capital Lyme Disease Association’s efforts to provide needed education and support. For more information about the beneficiary visit the website at: www.natcaplyme.org.
We want to thank all of our volunteers, sponsors, runners/walkers, vendors and everyone else who showed up to make this another great event! Mark your calendars for our 4th Annual Loudoun Lyme 5K/1K run, which will be held on May 18, 2014 at the Brambleton Town Center.
