Thank you Loudoun County! We are thrilled at the turnout for the Loudoun Lyme 5K/1-mile Fun Run. Nearly 1,000 people participated in the second annual event, which makes it the largest Lyme fundraiser ever held in the county.
We appreciate the support of our local and state elected leaders who addressed the crowd and pledged to bring more resources to fight Lyme disease. A special thank-you goes to Del. Barbara Comstock (R-34), Supervisor Geary Higgins (R-Catoctin), Sen. Dick Black (R-13) and the former Virginia First Lady Susan Allen.
We are grateful for the county government’s initiative to make 2012 Lyme Disease Awareness Year in Loudoun. This effort includes expanded public outreach, spraying to kill ticks in county parks, and the appointment of a new advisory committee.
Proceeds from the event benefit the National Capital Lyme disease Association, a nonprofit which offers education and support for those with Lyme disease.
