In Sterling, Virginia, Asma Messaoudi, a single mother with a disability, has been selected as the recipient of DryHome Roofing and Siding’s 22nd annual Free Roof for the Holidays program. The generous initiative by the Sterling-based company was completed on December 13, securing a safe and insured home for Messaoudi and her four children this holiday season.
Steve Gotschi, CEO of DryHome, expressed his company’s satisfaction in being able to assist Messaoudi, highlighting the importance of the roof in maintaining her homeowners’ insurance and providing a secure living space for her family. The selection of Messaoudi for this crucial home improvement was based on nominations received in November from community members and customers, taking into account her specific needs and the deteriorating condition of her home’s roof.
Messaoudi’s journey to homeownership, facilitated by Loudoun Habitat for Humanity’s affordable Homeownership Program, reflects her dedication and resilience. Since moving to the U.S. in 2006 and acquiring her home in 2016, she has faced numerous challenges, including a recent demand from her homeowner’s insurance company to replace the roof by mid-December. The nomination by Loudoun Habitat for Humanity for the Free Roof for the Holidays program has significantly eased the financial strain on Messaoudi, allowing her to focus on other essential home modifications for accessibility.
Loudoun Habitat for Humanity plays a vital role in the community, partnering with various stakeholders to create affordable housing solutions for those earning 30% to 60% of the area’s median income. Their support extends beyond just housing, offering volunteer opportunities and educational resources to ensure long-term success for homeowners.
For over three and a half decades, DryHome Roofing and Siding has been a fixture in Northern Virginia’s community, demonstrating a commitment to service and quality. The Free Roof for the Holidays program, having donated 22 roofs valued at over $200,000, exemplifies their dedication to giving back to the community that supports them. This initiative has positively impacted diverse groups, including individuals with mental health challenges, veterans, and families facing various hardships.
